What does “concierge-style care” mean in therapy?
Concierge care is a model of mental health services where the focus is on providing greater access, more personalized attention, flexibility, and deeper involvement from the therapist. It often involves fewer clients per clinician, longer sessions, flexibility in scheduling (including evenings, early morning, and occasional weekend availability for immediate issues, and the flexibility to offer extra support between sessions as needed.
How is concierge psychological care different from “traditional” therapy?
Some key differences include:
Flexible session length: Throughout treatment you might find you need more or even less time per session. Treatment is shaped to meet your needs, when you need it. This might mean scheduling a longer session on a difficult week, or adding a few briefer check-ins when something has come up. Concierge-level care offers the flexibility to adapt to your needs.
Scheduling flexibility: Personalized care means more options for times, locations (virtual, or even in the community), and faster appointment availability. Dr. Faro is PSYPACT authorized, which means even when you travel within the U.S., she can still see you for virtual services in 45 of the 50 states.
Continuity & availability: Easier access to Dr. Faro between sessions for urgent concerns or check-ins.
Customized treatment: Treatment plans are more tailored to the individual and when needed Dr. Faro will collaborate closely with other providers.
Who is concierge care best for?
Concierge care is for anyone, but it’s especially helpful for people who:
Feel constrained by the limitations of standard therapy (short sessions, long wait times)
Need more flexible scheduling (busy professionals, caregivers, etc.)
Want deeper, ongoing support, not just occasional check-ins
Are managing complex or overlapping mental health, emotional, or life-stress issues
Value a closer partnership and continuity with their therapist
What kind of access do I get between sessions?
Concierge-style care offers more availability for check-ins between scheduled weekly sessions for time-sensitive support. This is meant to help maintain continuity, reduce distress, or support you in applying therapeutic tools in real life. While concierge-style care does not entail 24/7 access to Dr. Faro, she is able to respond to you within a 24-hour window and offer availability for check-ins outside of standard 9-5 business hours. If you are interested in concierge-style care, please ask Dr. Faro for more information.
